Coffee Mornings at the Edinburgh Central Youth Hostel
We will continue to run coffee mornings at the Central Youth Hostel , 9 Haddington Place, fortnightly. The next ones are on 3rd and 17th September.

Joe experiences music viscerally and physically, feeling rhythm through his body and crafting lyrics that pulse with life and exhilarating originality. When their unlikely creative partnership sparks something extraordinary, ambition and belonging collide.

Cadenza Camerata Research Concert at the Stoller Hall, Manchester, M3 1DA – 15:00 29th October 2026
We have included this in case of interest to any members of our group. It’s quite a long way to travel for a concert but really interesting research, particularly for anyone who enjoys classical music. And it is free.
The organiser has confirmed that the venue has an infrared loop system, and they will be including screens with live captions to capture introductions and Q&A. BSL interpreters will be provided on request. Please email cadenzachallengecontact@gmail.com if booking a ticket to let them know any accessibility needs to make sure they have everything in place.
The Cadenza project is researching how to improve music for people with hearing loss. We are putting on a free concert working with Manchester Camerata. As well as hearing the orchestra performing classical romantic repertoire, there will be a research element in which the orchestra will perform musical excerpts in different ways to see how they affect listening experiences. This is a unique opportunity to shape future research on hearing aids while enjoying hearing the fabulous Camerata.
The concert will feature Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 (‘Pastoral’), with an introduction from Gábor Takács-Nagy about Beethoven, the Symphony and how Beethoven’s hearing was at the time of writing. There will also be a Q&A session at the end of the performance with experts on music, hearing loss, and hearing aids.

Visit to Forth Valley Sensory Centre
We have an open invitation to arrange a group visit to the Forth Valley Sensory Centre at Camelon, near Falkirk. The Centre serves people with a hearing and/or visual loss and can show visitors a number of devices that can help with hearing. See more here.
