Visit to Queen Mary University Audiology Department
We will visit Queen Margaret University in Musselburgh, which runs the only hearing aid audiology course in Scotland. Siobhan Mack, Head of Division Speech and Hearing Sciences and her team will show their facilities and let us see in action the equipment that audiology students use in training. They also have a display of historic hearing aid tests and devices to show us.
The visit will take place on Friday 20th November – Please email elhsg@outlook.com if you would like to come. We need people to let us know if they want to come.
October group talk – Clarivox assisitive devices
Those of you who attended our latest support group talk at Deaf Action in October will have heard Brian Shannan, Educational Audiologist at Edinburgh University and Director of Clarivox Limited, offer useful information and advice about the technicalities of hearing loss, assistive devices to help with hearing and tinnitus. We plan to follow up Brian’s offer to show us the range of devices that Clarivox can offer to suit individual needs. See their website https://clarivox.co.uk.
Edinburgh Citizens Advice Bureau
We’re planning a talk with the Edinburgh Citizens Advice Bureau, probably at a date in November – details to follow.
Visit to Forth Valley Sensory Centre
We have an open invitation to arrange a group visit to the Forth Valley Sensory Centre at Camelon, near Falkirk. The Centre serves people with a hearing and/or visual loss and can show visitors a number of devices that can help with hearing. See more here.
